i'm hoping this community is still active

hey there, i just found this community while i did an interest search for "overthinking". i definitely overthink way too much, striving for unreachable perfection in some things, like the perfect girl to date or the perfect job. i'm hoping i could find some people that could relate and give some tips to calm my brain down a bit.

Perhaps you need to challlenge yourself more...thinking about the perfect girl to date is hardly an intellectual pursuit! Most of us here seem to be trying less to calm our brains down than to stimulate them with interesting tidbits. If you're looking to switch off I suggest beer, or perhaps a Harry Potter novel. If you're looking for intellectual stimulation, I suggest picking up some art/aesthetic theory by Yves-Alain Bois, trying continental philosophers like Walter Benjamin or Giorgio Agamben, good authors like Italo Calvino or Roberto Calasso, going out to a gallery, or tracking down some fine, challenging films like The Ister, or Matthew Barney's Cremaster Cycle. With more to wonder at, your brain might perhaps be less inclined to "overthink" trivia...and you may just make yourself interesting enough to keep that "perfect girl" interetsed, if you ever meet her.

There are search results for overthinking?!! Whatttt. Why didn't I think of that before.
So I know this is like a year old but I just thought I should comment. First of all, I relate. I think the perfection I've been looking for is the perfect personality to make you compatible and liked by everyone you meet. I'm also kind of obsessed with anything and everything related to beauty. Did you know there's actually a prototype of the perfect face? It's like a mask or something... IDK just thought you might find it interesting :) Have a nice day!
